Summer Skincare Tips
Our favourite time of the year is here: Summer. Hello, days on the beach, bikinis & ice cold water.
In Australia we are lucky to have blue skies most days of the year and enjoy quite a lot of sunlight compared to other corners of the earth. We are all for the sun and LOVE being outdoors - especially during the warm (and sometimes hot!) summer months.
However, there are some things to keep in mind when venturing out into a beautiful summer's day - your skin will thank you!
1. Wear a hat.
The broader your hat, the better. And yes, broad brimmed hats look pretty cool!
2. Stay out of the midday sun.
Lunch time is a good time to head indoors - do your grocery shopping, read a novel with your favourite drink in hand (cup of tea anyone?) or take a well-deserved nap.
3. Be Skin Savvy
Always, always, always wear sun protection. Whichever brand you choose, make sure the product is reef safe & doesn't contain any harsh chemicals that can effect sea life or yourself.
Covering your skin with cotton fabrics is great additional protection and so is wearing rash vests in the water and staying in the shade as much as possible.
Hydrate - inside and out. By drinking plenty of purified water you will keep your body functioning at optimal level, even in the heat. Make sure you sip at least 2.5 - 3 litres of water on hot days. Adding some lime or lemon juice to water is a great detoxifier and will help with keeping your digestive system and water retention at bay.
Your skin get get pretty dehydrated too from all that sun! So make sure to keep moisturising. Our 'ili Pure Love Body Oil will do a great job at keeping your skin soft & well nourished during the hot months. Loaded with the superfood cacao, containing antioxidants our Pure Love Body Oil protects & helps repair skin from sun damage - and smells absolutely gorgeous!
5. After-Sun Care
A day out in the sun is quite dehydrating for your skin. Caring for your skin post-sun is just as important as the care you give it before you head out the door.
Ingredients such as Aloe Vera, Coconut Oil and Cacao are all wonderful moisturisers after sunbathing. Aloe Vera is particularly useful for sunburnt skin or irritations caused by being exposed to the elements.
After a day outdoors our 'ili Lavender Mint Coffee Scrub to moisturise and also help remove sunscreen - leaving your skin soft & supple. The mint in this body scrub is super cooling - so you'll love this for your shower after a hot day!
Wishing you a wonderful start to this summer! 🐚
